About the Role

East-West Seed is a global leader in vegetable seed innovation, committed to providing farmers with locally developed hybrid seeds that ensure higher yields and better disease tolerance. We are currently looking for a strategic and visionary Regional Manager - Regulatory and Public Affairs to lead our regulatory strategy, facilitate international seed movement, and support sustainable business expansion across Africa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive regional regulatory and public affairs strategy to support business growth and market access across Africa.
  • Monitor national and regional seed-related policies, legislation, and phytosanitary requirements, providing timely guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, regional economic communities, NGOs, and industry associations such as AFSTA, COMESA, and EAC.
  • Advocate for science-based, transparent, and harmonised regulatory systems that enable plant breeding innovation and protect intellectual property.
  • Collaborate closely with supply chain, breeding, commercial, and legal departments to identify regulatory risks and ensure seamless international germplasm movement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Biotechnology, or a related discipline; a postgraduate degree is a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of professional experience in regulatory affairs, policymaking, government affairs, or stakeholder management within the agriculture or seed industry.
  • Deep understanding of the African seed sector, including variety registration, seed certification, and phytosanitary regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and advocacy skills with a proven track record of engaging high-level regulatory bodies across multiple African countries.
