About the Role

Myrtle Management Consultants is partnering with leading organizations to deliver operational excellence and performance improvements across complex industrial sectors. We are currently seeking a skilled and vigilant Radio Operator to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will serve as the vital link for communication between offshore rigs, vessels, aviation assets, and shore-based management. You will play a key part in maintaining safety protocols, coordinating logistical movements, and ensuring seamless operational efficiency in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor marine, aviation, and rig communication systems including VHF, HF, and UHF equipment.
  • Maintain continuous, clear communication with vessels, helicopters, shore bases, and relevant maritime authorities.
  • Receive, log, and transmit operational, safety, and emergency messages accurately and professionally.
  • Monitor emergency and distress communication channels constantly to ensure rapid response readiness.
  • Support the coordination of helicopter and vessel movements in alignment with operational schedules.
  • Disseminate crucial weather updates, safety alerts, and operational information to relevant personnel.
  • Perform routine testing of communication equipment, report faults promptly, and coordinate necessary repairs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive company and operational communications.
  • Actively support emergency response and mustering activities in accordance with safety guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of an OND or NCE in Telecommunications, Radio Communications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of proven experience as a Radio Operator within marine, offshore, or oil and gas operations.
  • Valid relevant radio communication certification and license as mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • Strong working knowledge of marine and aviation communication procedures and protocols.
  • Possession of valid offshore safety certifications and demonstrated medical fitness for offshore deployment.
  • Exceptional situational awareness, active listening, and clear verbal communication skills.
