About the Role
The Federal University Lafia invites applications from suitably qualified and dynamic academics for the position of Professor of Paediatrics within the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. Established in 2011, our institution is committed to expanding access to high-quality higher education and cutting-edge healthcare training in Nigeria. As a Professor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of medical professionals, leading impactful clinical research, and contributing to the strategic growth of the College of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Provide academic leadership in the Department of Paediatrics within the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
- Teach, mentor, and examine undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
- Supervise postgraduate student research, including Master's and PhD theses.
- Conduct high-impact, peer-reviewed research and publish in reputable national and international journals.
- Participate in curriculum development and departmental administration.
- Provide clinical services and paediatric care within the university teaching hospital framework.
- Must currently hold the rank of Professor or be a senior academic ready for professorial chair appointment in Paediatrics.
- Must possess a minimum of twenty (20) academic publications, with at least sixteen (16) in print.
- Must have at least four (4) publications featured in a minimum of three (3) different and regularly published foreign index journals.
- Demonstrated evidence of successful supervision to completion of at least three (3) Master's degrees and one (1) PhD degree.
- Possession of relevant medical degrees, professional fellowship qualifications, and current practicing license.
