About the Role
The Federal University Lafia invites applications from suitably qualified and accomplished academics for the esteemed position of Professor in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology within the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences. Established in 2011 in Nasarawa State, our institution is dedicated to advancing quality higher education, cutting-edge medical research, and impactful community healthcare across Nigeria. We are seeking a visionary academic leader to shape the future of our medical students and drive institutional research output.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Professor, you will provide academic leadership in teaching, research, and community service within the Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology. Your core duties will include:
- Delivering engaging lectures, seminars, and practical training to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
- Mentoring junior academic staff and guiding research initiatives within the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences.
- Supervising postgraduate research projects, specifically ensuring the successful completion of Masters and PhD candidates.
- Contributing to curriculum development, department administration, and university-wide academic committees.
- Publishing high-impact scholarly articles in reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals.
Candidates applying for this professorial chair must meet the rigorous academic standards of the Federal University Lafia, including:
- Must currently hold the rank of Professor in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate a robust publication record of at least twenty (20) publications, with a minimum of sixteen (16) in print, out of which at least four (4) must appear in regularly published foreign index journals across three (3) different platforms.
- Provide verifiable evidence of successfully supervising at least three (3) Masters degrees and one (1) PhD degree to completion.
- Possess strong leadership, communication, and administrative skills suited for a top-tier Nigerian university environment.
