About the Role
Lekki Freeport Terminal, a state-of-the-art multi-purpose deep-sea port located at the heart of the Lagos Free Trade Zone, is looking for a dedicated Procurement Officer. In this vital role, you will support the procurement team by ensuring the seamless delivery of goods and services necessary to keep our terminal operating at peak efficiency. You will work closely with the procurement supervisor and various internal departments to maintain optimal inventory levels, manage vendor relationships, and enforce company purchasing policies.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor inventory levels, equipment supplies, and spare parts to prevent operational downtime.
- Process purchase requisitions and maintain accurate records of bids, tenders, and vendor files.
- Enforce procurement policies and guidelines established by the Chief Financial Officer.
- Evaluate and select vendors based on capabilities, pricing, performance, and consistent quality assurance.
- Manage auto-Purchase Requisitions (auto-PRs) and conduct regular stock reviews with the store team to spot shortages early.
- Track stock positions, report inventory levels, and identify obsolete stock to maintain optimal warehouse efficiency.
- Bachelor Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or a related discipline; engineering background is a plus.
- Minimum of 1 year of purchasing experience in private industry, preferably within shipping, maritime, or transportation.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and the integration between inventory, procurement, and finance.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and sound business judgment for setting priorities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- High ethical standards with knowledge of contract laws and basic accounting principles.
