About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a leading research-for-development organization committed to solving hunger, malnutrition, and poverty in Africa. We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Procurement Manager to oversee our end-to-end procurement operations, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and full compliance with institutional policies and donor regulations across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the complete end-to-end procurement process including needs identification, sourcing, tendering, bid evaluation, contracting, and delivery follow-up.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive annual procurement plans aligned with program work plans and budgets.
- Conduct market surveys and competitive sourcing of vendors, maintaining an up-to-date and pre-qualified vendor database.
- Draft and review purchase orders, contracts, and service agreements to ensure accurate specifications and clear deliverables.
- Monitor vendor performance, contract compliance, and delivery quality while resolving any disputes promptly.
- Ensure all procurement activities strictly comply with donor requirements, national regulations, and IITA ethics standards.
- Provide procurement guidance and training to state-level staff involved in local purchasing.
- Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CIPS is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional procurement experience, preferably within an international NGO or donor-funded program.
- Sound knowledge of procurement procedures, contract management, and vendor evaluation methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and enterprise resource planning (ERP) procurement software.
- High level of integrity, strong negotiation skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
