About the Role

In this vital role, you will implement effective systems, tools, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency, elevate product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and support our overarching vision of sustainable development and building better cities.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs our Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in monitoring plant performance and executing continuous improvement projects. Your daily responsibilities will encompass:
- Continuously analyzing equipment and system performance, including specific electrical and thermal energy consumption, to achieve operational budget goals.
- Promoting the increased use of Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR) while providing technical expertise to eliminate or reduce their impact on process operations.
- Cooperating in the design, economic feasibility studies, and commissioning of new systems and equipment modifications.
- Ensuring absolute adherence to environmental, health, safety, and OH&S compliance standards across all processes.
- Developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and supervising operational personnel to ensure consistent application.
- Carrying out benchmarking studies, optimizing Expert Optimizer performance, and preparing clear, concise technical reports.
- Training and coaching plant operations staff to build comprehensive process knowledge and capability.
To qualify for this exciting opportunity at HBM Nigeria Plc, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing, cement, or heavy industrial plant environment.
- Strong working knowledge of statistical process control methods, experimental design, and project management tools.
- Proven ability to perform basic process measurements, conduct plant audits, and manage material balances for kilns or mills.
- Familiarity with traditional process control tools, control loop tuning, and expert system strategies.
