About the Role
WTS Energy is a leading consultant and manpower supply company dedicated to the international oil, gas, and energy industries. We are currently recruiting a Principal Process Automation Control & Optimization (PACO) Engineer to provide expert discipline engineering support and technical authority for a high-profile project in Nigeria during its design, construction, and commissioning phases. In this pivotal role, you will ensure full integration of Operations and Maintenance requirements, champion safety excellence, and drive flawless project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage multidisciplinary PACO engineers and third-party contractors across design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning scopes.
- Provide expert technical support for interfaces with internal and external stakeholders, including asset teams, design contractors, JV partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure all engineering and design decisions strictly comply with relevant group standards, blueprints, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Drive zero-incident performance regarding design and technical integrity, proactively championing safety interventions across the team.
- Deliver comprehensive PACO technology functionalities to optimize plant operational availability while minimizing long-term maintenance costs.
- Provide technical assurance, design point reviews, and sign-offs in compliance with specified project control protocols.
- Collaborate effectively within a multi-ethnic, multi-disciplinary environment using an enterprise-first mindset.
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
- Active membership with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and COREN certification.
- Minimum of 14 years of dedicated PACO experience within the oil and gas industry, with exposure to offshore platforms, FPSOs, or onshore terminals highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in plant automation, process control, safeguarding, and system integration, particularly managing Main Automation Contractors (MAC) like Emerson DeltaV.
- Extensive experience managing pre-commissioning and commissioning of PLCs, DCS, and SIS, alongside Factory and Site Acceptance Testing for vendor packages.
- Strong working knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and telecommunications system integration.
