About the Role
WTS Energy is the leading consultant and manpower supply company to the international oil, gas, and energy industry, operating globally across 16 countries. We are currently seeking a dynamic and seasoned Principal PACO (Process Automation Control & Optimization) Engineer to provide expert discipline engineering support and act as a technical authority for the HA & HB-Buko projects during their design, construction, and commissioning phases. These strategic projects aim to deliver significant gas volumes to NLNG Train-7 from 2029 onward, alongside vital oil and condensate exports. Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of PACO engineers and third-party contractors through all phases of design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
- Provide critical technical support to facilitate seamless project interfacing with internal stakeholders, asset teams, engineering design contractors, joint venture partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure all engineering and design decisions strictly adhere to corporate standards, blueprint project management guidelines, design manuals, and HSE requirements.
- Drive team HSE performance toward a zero-incident mindset while maintaining absolute design and technical integrity.
- Deliver the full scope and functionality of advanced PACO technologies aligned with current operations and maintenance philosophies, specifically managing Main Automation Contractors (MAC) such as the Emerson DeltaV system.
- Provide technical assurance, oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning of PLC, DCS, and SIS systems, and manage critical control point sign-offs.
- Assist the Engineering Lead in optimizing project budgets, eliminating waste, and driving continuous operational efficiencies.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Process Automation Engineering.
- Active membership in the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and registration with COREN.
- Minimum of 14 years of dedicated PACO experience within the upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in plant automation, process control, safeguarding, system integration, and managing third-party packages.
- Proven hands-on experience managing MAC and Emerson DeltaV control systems, alongside PLC, DCS, and SIS pre-commissioning and commissioning.
- Preferred background working on offshore platforms, FPSOs, or complex onshore oil and gas processing terminals.
- Deep familiarity with Nigerian design codes, international oil and gas standards, and telecommunications system integration.
