As Principal Librarian, you will play a pivotal role in managing information resources, supporting cutting-edge academic research, and driving digital library transformations in a vibrant tertiary institution.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the day-to-day administration, strategic planning, and service delivery of the John Harris Library.
- Manage, curate, and expand physical and digital information repositories to support undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
- Provide advanced reference and research support services to faculty members, researchers, and students.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate professional and support library staff to ensure high standards of performance.
- Collaborate with university faculties and departments to integrate information literacy into academic programs.
- Implement modern library automation systems, institutional repositories, and digital archiving solutions.
- Must hold a PhD degree in Library and Information Science or a closely related discipline.
- Possession of a First Degree with a minimum of Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division combined with a PhD.
- A minimum of five (5) years of active teaching or relevant professional experience in a tertiary institution.
- Must have a minimum of eight (8) quality peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modern library management systems, digital resources, and information technology.
