About the Role

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Banker to drive our mission of promoting open market economies and private sector growth. In this pivotal role, you will manage the full project life cycle—from origination and structuring to execution and monitoring—for a diverse range of investment instruments. Operating with a high degree of independence, you will lead transaction teams, foster vital stakeholder relationships, and contribute meaningfully to policy dialogue and business development across our regions of operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of debt and equity transactions in collaboration with clients, authorities, and internal teams.
  • Oversee rigorous project due diligence and ensure all investments meet the Bank's stringent operational and ethical standards.
  • Manage portfolio performance proactively, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring timely resolution of implementation challenges.
  • Contribute actively to policy dialogue initiatives and assist in procuring grants and technical cooperation funds.
  • Recruit, coach, and mentor junior banking staff, fostering their professional growth and ensuring optimal workload distribution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in commercial banking, investment banking, private equity, or financial consulting operating to international standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in navigating complex transactions through the complete project life cycle.
  • Exceptional quantitative, financial modelling, and credit analysis skills, with a deep understanding of international accounting principles.
  • Superior stakeholder management, negotiation, leadership, and written/oral communication abilities in English.
