About the Role

BU Power Limited is a leading independent power producer dedicated to delivering reliable, uninterrupted electricity to the health, educational, industrial, and commercial sectors across Nigeria. We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Power Plant Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic operations team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining plant efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the seamless operation of our power generation assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and implement maintenance schedules and procedures specifically for CAT Gas and MWM Generator systems.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies to maximize the efficiency and lifespan of the gas generators.
  • Monitor key performance metrics, analyze operational data, and identify proactive areas for technical improvement.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for equipment failures and execute preventive and corrective measures.
  • Coordinate corrective maintenance activities in strict adherence to manufacturer recommendations and regulatory standards.
  • Manage scheduled outages and make critical equipment shutdown decisions when necessary.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with plant teammates to maintain optimal facility performance.
  • Resolve complex technical issues related to gas generators and diesel-fired engines.
  • Determine accurate material, manpower, and service requirements for ongoing projects.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements in gas engines and power generation.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven hands-on experience working with MWM Gas Generators or CAT Gas Generators in a power plant environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of thermal and mechanical power systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within the organization.
