About the Role

Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), a division of FirstRand Bank Limited, is a leading African corporate and investment bank offering innovative financial solutions. We are looking for a detail-oriented Portfolio Credit Analyst to join our dynamic credit team in Nigeria. In this role, you will be responsible for the oversight, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of the Bank’s credit portfolio across business segments including Investment Banking, Markets, Treasury & Trade Solutions, and Group Treasury, ensuring exposures remain within approved risk appetites and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor key parameters for the Credit Risk Appetite Framework and manage portfolio limits.
  • Support quarterly stress testing, scenario analysis, and the annual ICAAP workflow.
  • Compute and report Credit Risk capital in accordance with Basel requirements and regulatory guidance.
  • Manage the Bank’s Expected Credit Loss (ECL) model to ensure compliance with IFRS 9.
  • Track transaction breaches, escalate to sanctioning authorities, and propose corrective actions.
  • Develop, maintain, and automate statistical models for Gross Advances, ECL, and Non-Performing Portfolios.
  • Collaborate with internal/external auditors and regulatory examiners during review processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum classification of Second-Class Upper division or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Professional qualification in accounting, finance, or risk management is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, risk management, or portfolio monitoring.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, SQL, Power BI, and other statistical software.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, financial modeling, and report-writing skills.
