About the Role
Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital (GOUNITH), formerly Ntasi Obi Hospital, is a premier university teaching hospital standing at the vibrant intersection of research, education, and patient care. We are currently seeking a reliable and physically fit Porter to join our dedicated support services team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our healthcare facility by assisting patients, transporting medical equipment, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Transport patients safely between wards, departments, and treatment areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or walking assistance.
- Deliver medical records, lab specimens, pharmaceutical items, and equipment across various hospital departments promptly and securely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in hallways, waiting areas, and assigned storage spaces.
- Assist nursing and clinical staff with minor heavy-lifting tasks and patient mobility needs as required.
- Adhere strictly to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and patient confidentiality standards.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or safety concerns immediately to the appropriate facility management team.
- Minimum of a Junior Secondary School Certificate (JSSC).
- Must be physically fit and capable of prolonged standing, walking, and lifting.
- Demonstrated ability to exhibit integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, and professional competence.
- Basic ICT compliance for utilizing hospital communication tools and tracking systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
