About the Role

Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange (LCFE) is a premier multi-asset exchange driving the future of trading across agricultural, currency, solid mineral, and oil and gas commodities in Nigeria. We are seeking a strategic Petroleum Liquids Market and Trading Specialist to bridge physical and financial energy markets. In this pivotal role, you will design, structure, and facilitate the trading of energy-backed financial instruments, enhancing liquidity and transparency within the Nigerian energy sector while collaborating with top-tier industry stakeholders from refineries to regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with market participants to structure, develop, and list innovative oil and gas financial instruments such as energy derivatives, forward contracts, and asset-backed securities.
  • Drive market liquidity by actively engaging with brokers, dealers, institutional investors, and physical oil and gas off-takers.
  • Monitor and facilitate energy commodity trading activities on the exchange platform to ensure orderly, transparent, and efficient market operations.
  • Ensure all oil and gas trading activities and structured products strictly align with capital market regulations and exchange rules.
  • Analyze market trends, price volatility, and geopolitical factors to assess and mitigate risks associated with energy contracts and physical settlement processes.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Exchange and key industry stakeholders, including the SEC, oil companies, refineries, and financial institutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline, with professional certifications like CIS, CFA, or FRM being highly advantageous.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of active experience in petroleum liquids trading (physical or derivatives) combined with hands-on capital markets experience.
  • Deep understanding of energy market dynamics, pricing benchmarks, hedging strategies, and clearing or settlement processes.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, financial modeling, and data analytics proficiency.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills to interface effectively with C-suite executives and regulatory bodies.
