About the Role
Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited is a 100% Nigerian-owned company with strategic offices in the United Kingdom and Nigeria, recognized as a leading indigenous provider of subsea diving, underwater inspection, repair, and maintenance services for offshore and nearshore floating assets in the oil, gas, and marine industry. We are currently seeking a meticulous and driven Accounts Payable Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will ensure that all project supplier and subcontractor obligations are processed efficiently, accurately, and strictly in line with approved procurement and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, review, and process supplier, subcontractor, and service-provider invoices relating to ongoing offshore and marine projects.
- Verify invoices against purchase orders, contracts, service entries, delivery documentation, approved rates, and other relevant supporting evidence.
- Maintain accurate vendor accounts and perform regular reconciliations of supplier statements to resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure advances, deposits, retentions, and other vendor balances are properly recorded, tracked, and monitored.
- Prepare comprehensive payment schedules based on approved invoices, contractual due dates, cash availability, and authorized payment priorities.
- Provide critical data on upcoming supplier obligations to support accurate project cash-flow forecasting.
- Maintain complete, audit-ready records of all payment approvals and supporting financial documentation.
- Comply fully with internal procurement, finance, and project payment standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams to support safe, efficient, and commercially successful project delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Mandatory professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent recognized accounting body.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant accounts payable or project accounting experience, ideally within the oil and gas, offshore, marine, or heavy project sectors.
- Demonstrated high level of numerical accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or accounting systems.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
