About the Role

Lily Hospitals Limited, a leading multi-specialty private healthcare provider established in 1984, is seeking a motivated and compassionate Optometry Intern to join our dynamic clinical team in Nigeria. This exciting internship offers invaluable hands-on experience supporting comprehensive eye care services while working directly under the supervision of qualified, experienced optometrists in a modern medical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient intake, appointment preparation, and preliminary eye assessments.
  • Support optometrists during detailed eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction support, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and specialized optical instruments.
  • Record patient information accurately into electronic health systems while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Provide courteous guidance to patients regarding appointment processes, eyewear options, and follow-up care instructions.
  • Assist with dispensing, fitting, adjustment, and basic care instructions for spectacles and contact lenses.
  • Help manage inventory and stock levels for frames, lenses, contact lenses, and essential clinical supplies.
  • Adhere strictly to clinic policies, health and safety standards, and professional ethical guidelines.
  • Participate actively in training programs, supervision sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities.

Qualifications
  • Recent graduate from an accredited Doctor of Optometry (OD) programme.
  • Demonstrated strong interest in eye health, patient care, and clinical learning.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, and absolute respect for patient confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Basic computer literacy and reliable record-keeping skills.
