About the Role
Zamfara State Government is recruiting a dedicated Optometrist to join its healthcare workforce and serve the vision care needs of residents across the state. As an Optometrist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing vision problems, prescribing corrective lenses, and delivering essential preventive eye care services within government health facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments for patients of all ages
- Diagnose and manage refractive errors, eye diseases, and vision-related conditions
- Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses and optical devices
- Provide patient education on eye health, hygiene, and disease prevention
- Participate in community health outreach and vision screening programmes
- Maintain accurate patient records and health documentation
- Undertake shift duties, emergency assignments, and on-call healthcare responsibilities
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from a recognised institution
- Valid Registration Certificate from the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN)
- Completed internship with certification
- NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
- Must be an indigene of Zamfara State
- Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
- Medically and physically fit for employment
- Age: 18–40 years at application
- No criminal record and not previously dismissed from public service
- Recent passport photograph
- Birth certificate or Declaration of Age
- Local Government Indigene Certificate or Certificate of State of Origin
- Valid NIN Slip/Card
- Academic qualification certificates
- Professional registration certificate
- Internship completion certificate
- NYSC documentation (where applicable)
