About the Role

Zamfara State Government is recruiting a dedicated Optometrist to join its healthcare workforce and serve the vision care needs of residents across the state. As an Optometrist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing vision problems, prescribing corrective lenses, and delivering essential preventive eye care services within government health facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments for patients of all ages
  • Diagnose and manage refractive errors, eye diseases, and vision-related conditions
  • Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses and optical devices
  • Provide patient education on eye health, hygiene, and disease prevention
  • Participate in community health outreach and vision screening programmes
  • Maintain accurate patient records and health documentation
  • Undertake shift duties, emergency assignments, and on-call healthcare responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from a recognised institution
  • Valid Registration Certificate from the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN)
  • Completed internship with certification
  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
  • Must be an indigene of Zamfara State
  • Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Medically and physically fit for employment
  • Age: 18–40 years at application
  • No criminal record and not previously dismissed from public service
