About the Role
Eni, a major integrated global energy company, is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Operations Geologist to join Nigerian Agip Exploration Ltd. in Abuja. In this pivotal role, you will provide vital subsurface geological support to drilling, completion, and production operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and economically optimized delivery of wells and exploitation of reservoirs. You will play a key part in real-time geological evaluation and decision-making, ensuring all well operations align with approved geological and reservoir objectives while adhering strictly to our core values of sustainability, HSE excellence, and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities- Provide real-time geological support during drilling operations, including wellsite monitoring, formation evaluation, and timely geological interpretation.
- Analyse and interpret cuttings, cores, mud logs, wireline logs, LWD/MWD data, and gas readings to identify lithology, formation pressure, and potential wellbore risks.
- Support geosteering and optimal well placement to maximise reservoir exposure, production potential, and hydrocarbon recovery.
- Collaborate closely with Drilling, Reservoir Engineering, Geophysics, and Well Engineering teams to review well prognoses and geological programmes.
- Identify and manage geological hazards and uncertainties, ensuring data integrity and up-to-date geological databases.
- Ensure all operational activities comply fully with applicable HSE requirements, company procedures, and technical standards.
- BSc or MSc in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Environmental Surface Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant relevant professional experience within the oil and gas exploration and production industry.
- Advanced expertise in drilling and completion activities, wellsite geology, petrophysics, and reservoir characterisation.
- Strong proficiency in geophysical data interpretation, geological data integration, and well data acquisition.
- Demonstrated knowledge of integrated HSE processes, safety standards, and project management principles.
