About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja, a premier 500-bed specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking a dedicated Oncology Pharmacy Technician. In this vital role, you will support our clinical pharmacy team in the safe, efficient, and aseptic preparation of cancer therapies, ensuring world-class care for oncology patients across Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biologic agents under strict aseptic conditions using vertical flow hoods and closed-system transfer devices.
- Manage the procurement, inventory, receipt, and storage of oncology pharmaceuticals and investigational drugs.
- Ensure strict adherence to personal protective equipment protocols and maintain cleanliness in sterile preparation areas.
- Operate oncology pharmacy information systems, utilize barcode scanning technology, and maintain accurate compounding logs.
- Monitor stock levels of high-cost cancer therapies to prevent shortages, wastage, and ensure timely patient care.
- Diploma in Pharmacy Technology or Pharmaceutical Sciences from an accredited institution.
- Valid technician license or registration with the relevant pharmacy council.
- Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, with at least 1 year in oncology or sterile compounding.
- Certification in Aseptic Techniques and IV Chemotherapy Compounding.
- Proficiency in cytotoxic drug handling, spill management, and biological safety cabinets.
