Lakeshore Cancer Center (LCC), Nigeria's premier operational facility solely dedicated to cancer prevention and treatment, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our expert clinical team. Closely affiliated with the renowned Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York, we are committed to delivering global standards of oncology care and eradicating cancer across the region. In this pivotal role, you will administer precise radiation treatments, operate sophisticated linear accelerators, and provide essential emotional support to cancer patients undergoing their therapeutic journey.
Key Responsibilities- Administer prescribed doses of ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with physician prescriptions and treatment plans.
- Position patients accurately for treatment and fabricate immobilization devices to ensure precise beam targeting.
- Monitor patients during treatment sessions for any unusual reactions or side effects and report changes to the medical team.
- Maintain accurate and detailed treatment records, session notes, and equipment logs.
- Perform daily and periodic safety checks on radiation equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with medical physicists, radiation oncologists, and oncology nurses to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide compassionate education and reassurance to patients and their families regarding the radiation therapy process.
- Degree or Diploma in Radiation Therapy, Radiography, or a closely related medical field.
- Valid professional certification and current practicing license with the relevant regulatory body in Nigeria.
- Proven clinical experience working within an oncology or radiation therapy department.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols, dosimetry, and treatment planning systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and empathetic patient-care skills.
