About the Role
Myrtle Management Consultants is partnering with a leading energy client to recruit a seasoned OGTL Rig Superintendent / Owner Representative for offshore operations in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will act as the senior onsite representative for the owner, ensuring all drilling programs are executed seamlessly while upholding the highest standards of safety, operational excellence, and efficiency. You will manage multidisciplinary onsite personnel and resources, serving as the primary bridge between shore-based management and rig-site execution.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and oversee all onsite rig operations to ensure complete alignment with the owner's objectives and approved drilling programs.
- Ensure all activities are performed safely and efficiently, maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
- Manage and supervise onsite personnel, providing strong leadership and direction to rig crews and third-party contractors.
- Allocate and manage rig resources effectively to minimize downtime and optimize overall operational performance.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the rig site and shore-based management, delivering regular progress reports and technical updates.
- Monitor the technical performance of the rig and lead troubleshooting efforts for complex machinery and operational bottlenecks.
- Extensive experience in marine engineering or rig management, typically with a background as a Chief Engineer or Technical Superintendent in offshore operations.
- Deep knowledge of offshore support vessel types, drilling equipment, and comprehensive rig maintenance systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage multinational and multidisciplinary teams.
- Relevant safety and professional certifications including BOSIET, STCW, and Advanced Fire Fighting.
- A Certificate of Competency (C.O.C) Class 1 Engine Unlimited is highly preferred alongside a solid track record in budget control and regulatory compliance.
