About the Role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital offering world-class diagnostics, oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care, developed by Afreximbank in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Physician to provide strategic medical leadership, safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of our workforce while ensuring strict regulatory compliance and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical direction and clinical oversight for occupational health programs, ensuring high standards of preventative care.
  • Manage pre-placement health assessments, periodic evaluations, and fitness-for-duty determinations for high-risk roles.
  • Diagnose and manage work-related illnesses, injuries, and occupational exposures with prompt medical intervention.
  • Conduct advanced risk assessments for chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic workplace hazards.
  • Partner with Human Resources to handle complex disability cases, workers' compensation claims, and structured return-to-work programs.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, pandemic response plans, and act as the medical incident commander during workplace health crises.
Qualifications
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Fellowship qualification in Family Medicine with a professional certification in Occupational Health Medicine.
  • Valid practicing license and board certification or equivalent in Occupational Medicine.
  • Expertise in workplace hazard control and advanced knowledge of occupational health regulations such as OSHA, ISO 45001, and ILO standards.
  • Strong proficiency in disability case management, health surveillance, and electronic health record analytics.
