About the Role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Radiographer to join our state-of-the-art 500-bed specialty hospital. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE offers world-class comprehensive diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. In this role, you will deliver safe, high-quality Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging, supporting precise diagnosis, disease staging, and treatment planning for patients across Africa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform PET and PET/CT examinations as the primary clinical assignment, ensuring adherence to authorised tracer-specific protocols.
  • Coordinate injection, uptake, and acquisition schedules with the radiopharmacy and clinical teams while accounting for radioactive decay.
  • Operate SPECT and associated planar, dynamic, or hybrid imaging systems for bone, renal, cardiac, and other approved nuclear medicine studies.
  • Conduct thorough patient preparations, verify clinical history, screen for pregnancy and breastfeeding, and monitor patient wellbeing throughout procedures.
  • Handle and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, maintaining traceable records of administered activity and adhering to strict waste management protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority requirements and AMCE radiation protection standards.
  • Perform routine equipment quality control checks, complete basic troubleshooting, and manage image data transfer via PACS and RIS.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or a related field.
  • Valid Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) registration and current practising licence.
  • Essential certifications in PET/CT and SPECT imaging, alongside current Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical radiographer experience with hands-on PET/CT expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiation safety, radiopharmaceutical handling, and equipment quality control.
