About the Role
Nigerian British University is a prestigious private institution located in Asa, Abia State, dedicated to academic excellence and innovation. We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Network Engineer to manage, secure, and optimize our campus network infrastructure. In this role, you will ensure seamless connectivity to support academic, administrative, and student services, reporting directly to the Head of ICT / Network & Systems Administrator.
Key Responsibilities- Design, configure, and maintain the university's LAN, WLAN, and WAN infrastructure to ensure high availability and security.
- Administer enterprise switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, and access points.
- Manage Internet connectivity, bandwidth utilization, ISP handoffs, and failover arrangements.
- Configure and optimize VLANs, IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and VPNs.
- Monitor network performance and security events using advanced diagnostic tools and Network Management Systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex wired and wireless incidents, conducting root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with ICT teams to support Active Directory, RADIUS/NPS, and secure network access policies.
- Maintain comprehensive network topology diagrams, configuration backups, and technical documentation.
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience administering enterprise network infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 switching, routing protocols, firewalls, and enterprise wireless networks.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or CompTIA Network+ are a strong advantage.
