About the Role
BBC Media Action is recruiting skilled Moderators to support our research and data collection initiatives across Nigeria. As a leading communication for development organization, we work with local communities to understand their experiences and needs, ensuring our multiplatform health and governance projects create meaningful impact. You will play a crucial role in facilitating discussions that generate insights for our programmes addressing maternal health, HIV and AIDS, pneumonia, diarrhoea, and governance issues across Hausa and Pidgin English-speaking audiences.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct focus group discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews (IDIs) following approved discussion guides
- Establish comfortable, inclusive environments that encourage open and honest participant engagement
- Use effective probing techniques to elicit detailed, relevant responses aligned with research objectives
- Maintain focus on study objectives while allowing natural conversation flow
- Obtain informed consent and ensure strict confidentiality of all participant information
- Prepare comprehensive field notes and submit complete documentation as required
- Proven experience in qualitative research, focus group facilitation, or community engagement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and local languages
- Strong listening and probing abilities with cultural sensitivity
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple research activities
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Experience in health or governance communication projects preferred
