About the Role

We are currently seeking a passionate and driven Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer to join our team in Nigeria. In this vital role, you will lead the day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of MHPSS interventions, ensuring vulnerable children, adolescents, caregivers, and communities receive the psychosocial care and resilience-building support they deserve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor quality MHPSS activities, including HEART (Healing and Education through the Arts), psychosocial support groups, and caregiver support sessions.
  • Train, mentor, and provide supportive supervision to facilitators, volunteers, teachers, and community workers on PFA and basic MHPSS approaches.
  • Identify vulnerable children and caregivers, ensuring safe and timely referrals to specialized mental health and protection services.
  • Support MHPSS assessments and seamlessly integrate mental health initiatives with Child Protection, Education, Health, and Nutrition programmes.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor programme quality, collect accurate data, and document success stories and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate effectively with government authorities, community structures, local partners, and health facilities to strengthen service delivery.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Child Safeguarding policies, PSEA, Code of Conduct, and humanitarian principles at all times.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Psychiatric Nursing, Public Health, or a related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience implementing MHPSS programmes in humanitarian, development, or community settings.
  • Proven expertise in providing psychosocial support, case management, Psychological First Aid (PFA), and safe referral pathways.
  • Strong understanding of IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings.
  • Excellent facilitation, training, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse communities.
