About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital delivering world-class comprehensive diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Physicist to lead our nuclear medicine department, ensuring the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize nuclear medicine protocols for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures in compliance with IAEA and WHO standards.
- Implement and oversee comprehensive radiation protection programs, dosimetry calculations, and safety audits for patients and staff.
- Conduct rigorous quality assurance (QA) and calibration for advanced equipment including PET/CT and SPECT scanners.
- Oversee the safe handling, storage, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals alongside personalized oncology treatment planning.
- Provide expert training and mentorship to medical staff, technologists, and clinicians on radiation physics and safety protocols.
- Master’s or PhD in Medical Physics, specializing in Nuclear Medicine or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Medical Physicist within a dedicated Nuclear Medicine department.
- Recognized national or international certification in Medical Physics is highly advantageous.
- Proven expertise in SPECT/CT and PET/CT commissioning, internal dosimetry, and strict regulatory compliance.
