About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital delivering world-class comprehensive diagnostics and advanced treatments in oncology, cardiovascular care, haematology, and general medical services. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE Abuja is setting a new benchmark for healthcare across the African continent. We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Physicist specializing in Nuclear Medicine to ensure the safe, accurate, and effective application of radioactive materials and advanced imaging technologies for diagnostic and therapeutic excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize nuclear medicine protocols for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in compliance with IAEA, WHO, and international safety regulations.
- Oversee robust radiation protection programs, perform complex dosimetry calculations, and implement safety practices for patients, staff, and the public.
- Conduct rigorous quality assurance (QA), quality control (QC), and calibration for advanced imaging equipment including PET/CT and SPECT scanners.
- Manage the safe handling, storage, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals while collaborating with oncologists on personalized treatment planning.
- Analyze nuclear medicine imaging data, support clinical research initiatives, and provide expert training and mentoring to healthcare professionals.
- Master’s or PhD in Medical Physics, specializing in Nuclear Medicine or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Medical Physicist within a dedicated Nuclear Medicine department.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise in acceptance testing, commissioning, and QA/QC programs for SPECT/CT and PET/CT systems.
- Extensive knowledge of internal dosimetry calculations, radiation safety protocols, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Professional certification in Medical Physics from a recognized national or international board is highly desirable.
