About the Role

St Dominic Catholic Hospital is a 64-bed faith-based medical institution committed to promoting Catholic medical ethics, evidence-based medicine, and exceptional patient care. We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and patient-focused Medical Officer to join our dynamic clinical team in providing comprehensive primary and secondary healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical assessments, physical examinations, and accurate diagnoses for patients.
  • Develop, prescribe, and manage appropriate treatment plans, medications, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Admit, manage, and discharge patients efficiently while maintaining accurate and timely medical records.
  • Perform minor medical and surgical procedures as required within the scope of practice.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and participate actively in ward rounds and clinical meetings.
  • Educate patients and their families on preventive health measures, disease management, and ongoing treatment plans.
  • Adhere strictly to hospital policies, regulatory guidelines, and high standards of professional medical ethics.

Qualifications
  • Possess an MBBS or MBChB degree from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Full registration and a valid practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
  • Successfully completed Housemanship and NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of post-NYSC clinical experience in a recognized hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated experience or competence in emergency care, general practice, pediatrics, or obstetrics.
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, communication, and interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, handle emergencies, and participate in shift rotations, weekends, and public holidays.
