Dr. Peter Odili Cancer & Cardiovascular Hospital (POCCH) is a premier tertiary healthcare institution in Port Harcourt, dedicated to providing advanced oncology, cardiovascular, renal, and diagnostic services at international standards. We are currently seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring early detection and evidence-based treatment by performing accurate laboratory tests using cutting-edge medical technology.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and pathology accurately and efficiently.
- Collect, process, label, and properly store patient biological specimens while maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
- Ensure stringent quality control and quality assurance standards are met across all diagnostic procedures.
- Record test results meticulously in the hospital information management system and report critical values to physicians promptly.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, universal precautions, and waste management guidelines to maintain a toxic-free and sterile environment.
- Possession of a relevant degree or diploma as a Medical Laboratory Technician from a recognized institution.
- Current practicing license and valid registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Proven hands-on experience working in a hospital or clinical diagnostic laboratory setting.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
