About the Role
The Lagos State Ministry of Health is the premier state government ministry charged with the responsibility to plan, devise, and implement robust state policies on healthcare delivery. We are currently offering a dynamic Medical Laboratory Science Internship program designed for ambitious graduates looking to build a rewarding career in public health. As an intern, you will work alongside seasoned medical professionals in state-owned hospitals and laboratories, gaining hands-on exposure to modern diagnostic techniques, disease surveillance, and public health management across Lagos State.
Key Responsibilities- Assist licensed medical laboratory scientists in the collection, processing, and analysis of biological specimens.
- Perform routine laboratory tests under close professional supervision and quality control standards.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, test results, and laboratory inventory logs.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, biosafety standards, and infection control measures within the laboratory.
- Support public health campaigns, diagnostic screenings, and community health outreach programs initiated by the ministry.
- Participate in departmental training sessions, seminars, and research activities aimed at improving healthcare delivery in Lagos.
- A Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) degree from a recognized and accredited university.
- Current provisional registration or eligibility for licensure with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and laboratory information management systems.
- Demonstrated passion for public service and community healthcare development in Nigeria.
