Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized surgical consultations, diagnoses, and comprehensive treatment plans for patients requiring complex surgical interventions.
  • Perform high-quality surgical procedures while adhering strictly to international best practices, safety protocols, and hospital standards.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train resident doctors, medical officers, house officers, and undergraduate medical students.
  • Participate actively in departmental ward rounds, multidisciplinary clinical meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, and academic conferences.
  • Contribute to institutional research initiatives and evidence-based clinical practices to improve surgical outcomes at UNILESA Teaching Hospital.
  • Collaborate effectively with other medical specialists, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient management.
Qualifications
  • Possess a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Hold a postgraduate fellowship in Surgery (such as FWACS, FNMCS, or equivalent recognized foreign qualifications).
  • Current valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in a recognized teaching hospital or reputable tertiary healthcare facility.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven track record in medical education and research.
