The University of Ilesa Teaching Hospital (UNILESA Teaching Hospital), established through the upgrade of the historic Ilesa General Hospital by the Osun State government, is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Medical Consultant in Ophthalmology. Key Responsibilities- Provide specialized ophthalmic and surgical care to outpatients and inpatients at the hospital.
- Perform advanced eye surgeries and manage complex ocular diseases with high standards of clinical precision.
- Supervise, train, and mentor resident doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate actively in departmental clinical meetings, mortality reviews, and academic ward rounds.
- Conduct clinical research and contribute to evidence-based medical practices within the institution.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and safety.
- Participate in community outreach programs and public health campaigns focused on preventable blindness.
- Possess a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized and accredited university.
- Must be a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCP), or an equivalent recognized professional fellowship in Ophthalmology.
- Current and valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Demonstrated clinical experience in managing diverse ophthalmic cases and performing ocular surgeries.
