About the Role
African Foundries Limited (AFL) is a leading steel manufacturing company dedicated to making Nigeria self-reliant through the production of high-strength rebars and allied products. We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Mechanical Engineer - Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to join our plant team and optimize equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive TPM strategies for all mechanical equipment and production lines.
- Lead Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Planned Maintenance (PM) activities across various plant departments.
- Analyze equipment breakdown data to identify root causes and execute effective corrective actions.
- Coordinate predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Train, mentor, and coach operators and technicians on TPM principles and proactive machine care.
- Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at maximizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Collaborate closely with production, quality assurance, and safety teams to align departmental objectives.
- Maintain accurate documentation and report key performance indicators including MTBF, MTTR, and OEE.
- Support strategic spare parts management by identifying critical spares and tracking consumption trends.
- Ensure strict compliance with all company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
- Possess a B.Eng, B.Sc, or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 to 6 years of hands-on maintenance and TPM experience within steel manufacturing, heavy engineering, or heavy process industries.
- Professional certifications in TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Reliability Engineering will be a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated expertise in root cause problem solving and improving plant machinery uptime.
