About the Role

Are you an experienced humanitarian professional passionate about data-driven impact? Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is seeking a dedicated MEAL Officer to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning systems for our Basque project in Nigeria. In this vital role, you will ensure our interventions remain evidence-based, results-driven, and fully compliant with donor standards while supporting adaptive program management and beneficiary accountability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive MEAL frameworks, logical frameworks, and indicator tracking tools aligned with donor requirements.
  • Coordinate baseline, midline, and endline evaluations, alongside routine data collection using digital tools such as ODK and Kobo.
  • Conduct data validation, routine data quality assessments (RDQAs), and regular field monitoring visits.
  • Lead data analysis and produce visual summaries, infographics, and project dashboards to showcase impact.
  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices to foster continuous organizational learning.
  • Ensure robust beneficiary feedback and complaint mechanisms are actively maintained in line with JRS standards.
  • Provide technical capacity building and training to project staff and partners on MEAL systems and data-based decision-making.
  • Promote safeguarding, PSEA standards, and humanitarian principles across all monitoring and evaluation activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional MEAL experience, preferably within the humanitarian or NGO sector.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and statistical software such as SPSS, Excel, NVivo, and digital data collection platforms like KoboToolbox or ODK.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing feedback and accountability systems and meeting donor reporting standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and cross-cultural communication skills with fluency in English and a local language.
