About the Role
Nigerian NewsDirect is seeking an experienced Managing Editor to lead our editorial operations and maintain our reputation as a leading source of in-depth business and economic analysis. Since 2010, we have grown from 5,000 to 40,000+ weekly circulation, serving decision-makers across energy, oil and gas, aviation, maritime, banking, capital markets, and politics sectors. Our online platform updates every 30 minutes, reaching audiences locally and internationally from our offices nationwide and in Washington DC.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily editorial operations and content strategy across print and digital platforms
- Supervise production schedules and manage evening shift operations from 5pm onwards
- Manage and mentor editorial team to maintain high journalistic standards
- Coordinate special reports and investigative journalism projects
- Ensure accurate, timely publication across all mediums
- Collaborate with reporters to develop compelling business and economic narratives
- Maintain editorial calendars and deadline management
- Proven editorial experience in journalism or publishing
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Proficiency in news production systems and digital platforms
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Knowledge of Nigerian and global business sectors preferred
- Flexibility to work evening production hours as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
- Hybrid work arrangement: 3 days onsite weekly at our Ogba office
