About the Role
DP World is looking for a strategic and results-driven Manager: Transport Operations to lead our road freight operations in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will establish and manage our trucking fleet, yard operations, and regional corridor developments with an initial focus on Port to ICD operations. You will build and operate an efficient trucking business supporting port logistics, inland transport, and cross-border freight movements while ensuring uncompromising safety, operational excellence, and commercial growth across the region.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily operations of the trucking fleet, including truck scheduling, dispatching, routing, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Oversee yard operations such as truck flows, container handling coordination, and gate movements to optimize turnaround times.
- Develop road freight operations across key corridors, establishing operational partnerships and ensuring cross-border regulatory compliance.
- Drive commercial growth by identifying new road freight services, supporting pricing strategies, and building relationships with key shippers and freight forwarders.
- Implement strict road safety and driver compliance programs, maintaining high HSE standards across fleet and yard operations.
- Lead, recruit, and mentor a high-performing team of drivers, expeditors, and operational controllers.
- Implement transport management systems (TMS), GPS/telematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maximize operational visibility and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or Engineering; a Master's degree or MBA is an advantage.
- 6 to 10 years of robust experience in trucking, transport, or logistics operations.
- Proven expertise in managing fleet operations, cross-border transport, and West African logistics corridors.
- Familiarity with ECOWAS transit procedures, regional transport regulations, and port logistics.
- Proficiency in utilizing transport management systems (TMS), telematics, and fleet tracking tools.
- Strong leadership, analytical, operational planning, and cost-control skills.
