About the Role
Nigerian Electricity Supply Corporation (Nigeria) Limited (NESCO) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Machinist / Turner to join our engineering team at our Head Office in Kurra Falls, Plateau State. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our hydropower plant machinery through precision machining, maintenance, and expert fabrication of mechanical parts.
Key Responsibilities- Operate various machine tools to fabricate, repair, and refurbish mechanical components for hydropower equipment such as turbines, pumps, and valves.
- Interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce accurate, high-quality replacement parts.
- Take precise measurements using professional tools including Vernier calipers, micrometers, and screw gauges.
- Assist with the careful alignment, assembly, and testing of machined components to guarantee optimal functionality and minimal plant downtime.
- Maintain thorough records of machining processes, perform routine equipment maintenance, and adhere strictly to all workplace safety protocols.
- Provide critical technical input during troubleshooting sessions and prepare periodic reports for the Head of Workshop.
- Minimum of a National Diploma (ND) in Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting heavy-duty machine tools and precision equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydropower components, and technical blueprint interpretation.
