About the Role
Egbin Power Plc, located in Lagos, is one of the largest and most prominent thermal power generating stations in Sub-Saharan Africa. We are dedicated to meeting the rapidly growing electricity demands of Lagos and its environs through operational excellence, safety, and reliability. We are currently looking for a motivated and detail-orented Local Plant Operator to join our dynamic operations team and contribute to Nigeria's power sector.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct periodic field patrols and inspections of boilers, turbines, condensers, cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Monitor operating parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates, identifying and reporting any abnormalities.
- Operate manual field equipment including valves, pumps, and drain systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Execute plant startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures as directed by the Control Room Operator.
- Assist maintenance teams in isolating equipment and preparing work areas for servicing under safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate shift logbooks, communicate plant deviations clearly, and participate in routine safety drills.
- Minimum of an OND (Ordinary National Diploma) or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Plant Engineering.
- 0 to 2+ years of relevant experience in a power generation plant, refinery, or heavy industrial process environment.
- Basic understanding of power plant processes, steam cycles, and ability to interpret P&ID diagrams.
- Strong adherence to safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and emergency response protocols.
- Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
