About the Role
Daniel Joseph Academy, a prestigious full-boarding, co-educational secondary school located in Ikot Akan, Akwa Ibom State, is seeking a passionate and qualified Literature in English Teacher. In this role, you will shape young minds by bringing classic and contemporary literature to life, encouraging critical thinking, and nurturing effective communication skills among our secondary school students within a vibrant academic community.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging, curriculum-compliant Literature in English lessons to secondary school students.
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessment tools to evaluate student progress.
- Foster a stimulating, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth.
- Encourage critical analysis of prose, poetry, and drama through interactive discussions and essay writing.
- Participate in school-wide extracurricular activities, boarding supervision duties, and academic meetings.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate academic records for periodic reporting.
- Possess a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), B.A. (Ed), or B.A. in English and Literature, or a related discipline with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
- Proven teaching experience in a recognized secondary school setting, preferably within a boarding school environment.
- Deep knowledge of the Nigerian secondary school curriculum and relevant West African examination bodies.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
