About the Role
Beryl's Book Barn is a premier children's bookstore, library, and educational services provider based in Lagos, Nigeria, specializing in curated subscription boxes, school library setup, and literacy development. Established in 2018, we cater to parents and schools by offering tailored collections categorized for different growth stages: Seedlings (ages 0-4), Buds (ages 5-8), and Bloomers (ages 8+). We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Literacy Lead to champion our mission of fostering a lifelong love for reading among Nigerian children.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive literacy programs and reading initiatives for children across various age groups (Seedlings, Buds, and Bloomers).
- Curate engaging book selections for subscription boxes, retail offerings, and school library setups.
- Collaborate with schools, educators, and parents to provide tailored educational services and literacy assessments.
- Facilitate interactive storytelling sessions, reading clubs, and workshops to engage young readers and the community.
- Train and mentor junior staff and reading facilitators on effective literacy development strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English Language, Literature, Library Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience working in early childhood education, literacy programs, or children's publishing/bookstores.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a deep passion for children's literature.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple educational projects and client relationships effectively.
