Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the daily management and organization of library resources, including cataloguing, classification, and shelving of materials.
  • Support library users in locating and accessing books, journals, and digital resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of library holdings, loans, returns, and overdue materials.
  • Utilize library management software and Microsoft Office applications for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance, preservation, and security of library collections and equipment.
  • Support the circulation desk operations, including registration of new users and processing of inter-library loans.
  • Assist in periodic stock-taking and inventory of library materials.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff seeking library assistance.
  • Support the implementation of library policies and procedures in line with university standards.

Qualifications
  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Library Science from a recognized institution.
  • SSCE/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent with a minimum of five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of cognate post-qualification experience in a library or related academic environment.
  • Demonstrable computer literacy with proficiency in relevant office and library management applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with students, faculty, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented academic setting.
