About the Role

Alliance Française de Lagos, a prestigious 65-year-old French Language and Cultural Centre and part of a global network of over 840 centers, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Library Intern. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in information management, digital archiving, and cultural promotion within a bilingual and multicultural environment in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily library operations, including cataloging, classification, and shelving of physical and digital resources.
  • Manage patron inquiries, provide exceptional customer service, and support visitors in navigating library collections.
  • Help maintain and update digital library databases and electronic resource management systems.
  • Support the organization of cultural events, exhibitions, and educational programs hosted by the center.
  • Collaborate with staff on special library projects aimed at improving user engagement and resource accessibility.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or ongoing studies in Library and Information Science or a related field.
  • Minimum B2 level proficiency in French (spoken and written).
  • Strong digital literacy and familiarity with modern library management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for customer service.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and flexible, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
