About the Role
Obafemi Awolowo University, a renowned public institution established in 1962 in Ile-Ife, Osun State, is seeking a dedicated and qualified professional for the position of Librarian I at the Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Library. Key Responsibilities- Manage daily operations within designated sections of the Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Library.
- Provide reference, research assistance, and information literacy training to students and academic staff.
- Catalog, classify, and organize physical and digital library resources in accordance with established standards.
- Assist in the development, curation, and preservation of institutional repositories and digital archives.
- Collaborate with academic departments to align library collections with curriculum and research needs.
- Ensure seamless access to electronic databases, journals, and other digital learning tools.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior library personnel and support staff.
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field.
- Valid professional qualification and registration with relevant bodies as applicable.
- Demonstrated professional experience in an academic or research library environment.
- Familiarity with modern library management systems, digital archiving, and electronic resource management.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills suited for a dynamic academic community.
- Meeting all other criteria specified in the Obafemi Awolowo University Scheme of Service.
