We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our esteemed team at Dangote Sugar PLC, reporting directly to the DSR Group Company Secretary and Legal Adviser.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with external solicitors regarding active court cases, conducting periodic status reviews to expedite resolutions and evaluate strategic effectiveness.
  • Ensure all company licenses, permits, and agreements remain valid, managing the timely renewal of contracts, advance payment guarantees, and bank guarantees.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate corporate contracts, agreements, and internal policies to guarantee full statutory and legal compliance.
  • Monitor evolving legal and regulatory frameworks, advising management proactively on compliance requirements and filing necessary renditions with regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly reports for departmental and management meetings, alongside drafting Board Committee reports and meeting minutes.
  • Conduct thorough legal verifications, particularly supporting the efficient onboarding of new vendors.
  • Execute additional legal and administrative duties as directed by the Company Secretary and Legal Adviser.

Qualifications
  • Possession of an LLB and BL degree from a recognized institution; relevant postgraduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • 1 to 3 years of post-call experience working within a reputable law firm or a large corporate conglomerate.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Nigerian corporate and commercial law, litigation support, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Exceptional competencies in legal drafting, contract management, and corporate governance.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
