About the Role

Open Access Consulting is recruiting a dedicated Legal Counsel on behalf of our client, a leading and well-established Microfinance Bank in Nigeria. We are seeking a qualified legal professional to provide comprehensive in-house support, manage regulatory compliance, and safeguard the organization's legal interests across its diverse business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documentation.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on commercial, regulatory, finance, real estate, and technology matters.
  • Support the preparation of Board and Committee packs, resolutions, and essential corporate meeting documentation.
  • Maintain comprehensive legal templates, contract databases, compliance trackers, and statutory registers.
  • Monitor business operations proactively to ensure adherence to relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Prepare detailed legal memos, opinions, position papers, and case notes for management review.
  • Maintain litigation records and assist effectively with dispute resolution and pre-litigation matters.
  • Liaise seamlessly with external counsel regarding court filings, hearings, and official legal documentations.
Qualifications
  • Possession of an LL.B from a recognized university and a valid call to the Nigerian Bar (BL).
  • 2 to 4 years of solid post-call experience gained within a reputable law firm or financial institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract drafting, legal research, and regulatory compliance monitoring.
  • Working exposure to litigation, dispute management, and corporate secretarial responsibilities.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with strict attention to detail.
