About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal institution committed to academic distinction, is seeking a qualified and dynamic Lecturer II to join its Department of Arts within the Faculty of Arts. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the minds of undergraduate and postgraduate students, fostering critical thinking, and advancing the study and preservation of Linguistics and African Languages.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and tutorials in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Linguistics and African Languages.
- Conduct high-quality academic research and publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Supervise undergraduate student research projects, essays, and academic dissertations.
- Participate in continuous curriculum development, course evaluation, and innovative teaching methodologies.
- Perform departmental administrative duties and serve on various academic committees as assigned by the Head of Department.
- Mentor and advise students on academic progression, career paths, and professional development.
- A Ph.D. or a Master's degree in Linguistics, African Languages, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
- Must possess a minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
- A Bachelor's degree (First Degree) with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division, OR a Second-Class Lower Division with a completed Ph.D.
