About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a premier federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a qualified, dynamic, and dedicated academic professional to fill the position of Lecturer II in the Department of Law, specializing in Jurisprudence and International Law. As a Lecturer II, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education, mentoring law students, and contributing to impactful legal research within a vibrant academic community.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and tutorials in Jurisprudence and International Law to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Design, update, and evaluate course curricula in alignment with NUC guidelines and modern legal education standards.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and academic writing.
- Conduct rigorous academic research and publish findings in reputable, peer-reviewed local and international journals.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees, administrative duties, and community service initiatives.
- Assess student performance through continuous evaluations, examinations, and constructive feedback.
- Possession of a PhD or a Master's degree in Law with a minimum of three (3) years of tertiary teaching experience.
- Must possess a minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed academic publications in recognized journals.
- Must hold a foundational First Degree in Law (LLB) with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, OR a Second-Class Lower Division with a completed PhD.
