The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal institution founded in 1970, is seeking a qualified and passionate academic professional to fill the position of Lecturer I within the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, Faculty of Social Sciences. Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Geography and Regional Planning.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects, dissertations, and theses.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish peer-reviewed articles in reputable local and international journals.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university committee meetings and administrative duties.
- Mentor students and provide academic guidance to support their holistic development.
- Contribute to curriculum development and review in alignment with NUC standards and global best practices.
- A Ph.D. or Master's degree in Geography, Regional Planning, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
- For candidates with a Master's degree, a minimum of three (3) years of tertiary teaching experience and at least three (3) peer-reviewed publications are required.
- A mandatory First Degree (Bachelor's) with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division, OR a Second-Class Lower Division coupled with a Ph.D.
- Demonstrated ability to attract research grants and collaborate on academic projects is an added advantage.
